But let’s recap today’s fantastic golf.

In the morning semi-final matches, Match #1 was a battle of the Graces with Grace Curran (#1)  taking on Gracie Piar (#13).  Match #2 pitted Megan Furtney (#2) against Mackenzie Hahn (#22).

Megan Furtney had a commanding, 3-up, lead after 9 which she never relinquished. The match ended on the 14th hole with Megan birdieing to win 6 & 4.

The battle of the Graces did not disappoint. The match was fiercely contested and went to 19 holes when Grace Curran beat Gracie Piar, 1 up.

In the afternoon the final match teed off with a epic confrontation between Minnesota’s Grace Curran and Duke’s Megan Furtney. It was definitely a battle that kept you watching all the way to the end and interrupted with a 30 minute lightning delay mid-match. The match ended with Grace Curran winning 2 & 1 on the 17th hole.

Fantastic golf was on display throughout the entire Illinois Women’s State Amateur Championship with a total of 137 birdies over 3 days of golf. The two final players each had 16 birdies across three days of competition.
