Grace Curran, New Lenox, Captures Medalist Honors!
Mundelein, IL, June 15, 2021: Sunny skies brightened the day as golfers teed off at 7 a.m. vying for medalist and match play honors at the 88th Illinois State Women’s Amateur Championship. Pine Meadow Golf Course provided a stiff challenge, playing 6092 yards with a par of 72.
The tournament format featured a qualifying round of 48 players, the strongest field in Illinois State Women’s Amateur history. The field was then reduced to 32 players that continued on to match play in the afternoon. Grace Curran of New Lenox carded a two under 70 on her way to Medalist Honors. Megan Furtney followed her closely, shooting a 1 under 71.
The amazing weather continued in the afternoon for the round of 32. Advancing out of that round to the round of 16 are:
